Elly replied: "Yes, but a skin reaction is also common in small children. Still you need to take her to a doctor as soon as possible. Schedule a same day, go to urgent care, if she's getting worse and worse go to the ER NOW!! Definately though get her in today, and take her medication bottle with you."
I have a Zoloft question for OCD? I have been taking Zoloft for 5 years for treating OCD and I have been successful for it reducing my OCD symptoms. Now I can't get Zoloft because of money for a month, do you think my body will have an allergic reaction or will my OCD worsen like it was before I was diagnosed with it and put on medication like Zoloft for it?
Michelle replied: "It's really dangerous to suddenly stop taking Zoloft. You have to stop gradually, or else you may experience serious side effects."
shanii replied: "I agree with Michelle. You could have serious withdrawals if you suddenly stop taking your medication.
You may experience symptoms such as Anxiety, Irritability, Dizziness, Burning or tingling sensations, Confusion, Headache's, Insomnia or Tiredness, as well as the return of (or worsening) some of your OCD symptoms.
You should see a Doctor about weening off slowly."
Taken Zoloft for 2 weeks, now have developed a rash...? I was on 50 mg for a week, then went up to 100 mg. Have been on the 100 mg for a week as well... today I notice that I have broken out into a rash all over my arms, stomach, and back. Has anybody else done this? And do you think it *is* from the Zoloft... I mean, its been 2 weeks... if it was an allergic reaction wouldn't it have happened before now?
oldtimekid2 replied: "I would talk to your doctor ASAP and/or go in to the walk-in clinic if you can.
says:
"Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:
Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); bizarre behavior; black or bloody stools; chest pain; confusion; decreased bladder control; decreased concentration; decreased coordination..."
The list goes on much longer, but the first ones are the main point. You need to contact a doctor or get into the clinic ASAP according to the warnings on the drug.
It is possible that the increase was enough to get the reaction... maybe 50 mg wasn't enough to give your body the reaction and 100 mg was enough. Either way, the doctor can verify that and change your prescription if needed. I would also be careful about any of the antidepressants like this because of the increased risk of suicidal thoughts and tendencies (also listed on the same page listed above). Good luck and I hope I helped!"
Should I take Zoloft again, will it work a second time? I have been off Zoloft since October 2006.? I took it for almost a year and it worked good. The only side affect was poor judgement, and slighty hyperactivity (but I was hyper and A.D.D. before i got depressed, so it was natural for me I like the way I am, ) . But now that I am prepared for it and I have friends and family that are here to help me keep my conscence. I tried fluvoxamine for a while prescribed by my doctor. But I had a slighty allergic reaction to it. I want to do zoloft again. But will it work? I want to be off it as soon as i can. I have tried to get better on my own, but have some problems with certain things that regularly occur in life and every time I get better, when they occur I get down again. Uh. I just need information! So, any advice about zoloft from people who have taken it or know about it would be great.
Thank you so much,
Kayla
I would just like all people who are going to reply to this know that. If you dont know a lot about depression or haven't been there before, this probably isn't the question for you to answer. And answer like learn to deal with it is okay if you back it up with a lot. But really, depression isn't just that easy. Believe me I try every day, I try very hard. But it's gotten to the point where I need some help. I'd really rather not take pills. To be honest, they scare me to death. But I dont know what else to do. I dont want to be on pills for life. I just want them to help me get back on my feet and solve my problems. Because apparently what I'm doing isn't working. Sometimes I get down, but I try and exercise daily, eat right, do things I like. I get feeling better then my world comes crashing down and I'm back where I started.
Riot replied: "generally the consensus about all SSRI's is you go on the first time for a year, if it recurs, u have to stay on two years, if it recurs again, u stay on for life
yes people take SSRIs more than once in thier life and it can work as well as it did the first time...unfortuatnely there is no guarantee, its touch and go
good luck"
boxmaker40 replied: "I would suggest you do alot of research on zoloft. There have
been alot of people who have commited suicide from taking
the medication. It makes you feel great for a while, but it can
have the opposite affect after. It also takes it's toll on your
brain. I tried it and I would never take it again. I try to do things that make me happy when I'm down or depressed.
I do things that make me laugh, and I keep busy. Life does
suck sometimes, but learning to deal with it, will make you
stronger."
Heidi Anne replied: "You can take it again. I was kinda like you, I was on it for about a year or 2 and wanted to try to get better on my own and I tried a few other pills but decided that I needed to go back to Zoloft I have been back on it for I think almost 3 years now. It works the same and everything. If you havent tried it yet I might try Welbutrin....I tried it and it helped and I take that with my Zoloft. I know this is a hard thing to go through but just try to take it one day at a time. Good Luck"
Zoloft causing throat pain? sometimes when i take zoloft my throat feels weird and i have a sort of heart burn feeling, it seems to happen when i dont have too much water to drink with it. is this an allergic reaction?
VA replied: "More likely, it's just the effects of the pill getting caught in your throat on its way down. If it were an allergic reaction, you'd be feeling it all the time, not just when you dry-swallow.
The same thing happens to me too, when I try to swallow a pill without enough water. Make sure you always have lots of water to gulp your Zo down, and you shouldn't have that problem any more."
